So you are a homebuyer and you found that perfect home and are ready to make an offer on it. There is one thing you absolutely must have in hand BEFORE you start looking.
Hey neighbors! I’m Casey Serafino-Lee, realtor to the Hayward Area, and I’m here to tell you why it is important to have a preapproval letter IN HAND before you start looking for your dream home.
First, you need to know how much you can afford before you even start shopping. This is important because you don’t want to find that perfect home, make an offer on it, only to find out you can’t afford it. Having a preapproval letter allows you to search for home sin your price range.
Second, you find out if you are qualified for a mortgage. This is especially important if you are self-employed or commission based. Before you start to look for homes or make an offer make sure you can qualify for a loan and it will give YOU a stronger position when submitting an offer, ESPECIALLY when there are multiple offers.
Sellers want to know you can afford their home. So having a preapproval letter with your offer shows you are a serious AND ready buyer. As you can see, having a preapproval letter is important when looking for homes. Don’t make the mistake other buyers have before. Get that letter!
