Before you get a loan for a house you need to know what is an appraisal?  An appraisal is a value that an appraiser puts on a home. This value is determined from an analysis that the appraiser performs when he visits your home and does an analysis of nearby comparative homes.  

Why is an appraisal important?  If you are getting a loan/mortgage on the home,  the bank wants to be sure the house is worth the amount they will loan you.
